Prairie County straddles the Yellowstone main-stem in eastern Montana — Terry is the county seat, on the Yellowstone. The Powder River joins the Yellowstone within the county at the Custer line. O’Fallon Creek drains the south. About 3,700 active rights, mostly stock and small irrigation along the Yellowstone benches.
